Building Restoration and Building Conservation

The MacDonagh Junction development in Kilkenny was opened in 2007 and differs from similar projects in that it incorporates the ruins of old buildings. Inter-Clean won the contract to restore the facades of these protected structures consisting of the; Kilkenny Workhouse, Goods Shed & Railway Building. These buildings were not only large in size but were in varying states of disrepair and built of brick and/or stone. The works undertaken consisted of:
  • Take Down & Salvage
  • Forming of Arched Openings
  • Vegetation removal
  • Repointing
  • Rebuild
  • Biocidal Wash
All of the buildings were beautifully restored to produce a unique blend of old and new. Similar to the Killeen Castle project, a team of experienced craftsmen were employed and the works supervised to ensure strict compliance with conservation guidelines.
